Rowland is a medical and graduate student at both Baylor College of Medicine and Rice University. This spring he will be completing both a PhD in Quantitative and Computational Biosciences as well as a Master and Business Administration degree focused in entrepreneurship.
Rowland’s PhD research focuses on statistical genetics, bioinformatics, and computational biology. He has received robust training, and published in, the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for clinical problem solving. He has authored 20 peer reviewed publications. Rowland will finish his medical degree in May of 2023.
For his undergraduate work, Rowland went to Duke University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biophysics. During that time, he was a four-year member of the varsity Duke men's lacrosse team and won two national championships in 2013 and 2014.
Rowland currently serves as a Venture Fellow for Goose Capital as of January 2022. He has particular interest in deal sourcing and evaluating startups for the Goose team related to the life sciences, including new health tech as well as deep tech opportunities.
Rowland’s hobbies include team and endurance sports, and he is currently training for his first long triathlon event (Ironman 70.3 in Galveston). Rowland enjoys saltwater fishkeeping and has a 75-gallon reef tank. He also has one ‘dependent’, a rescue dog ‘Walter' that keeps him well occupied.
