Jack M. Gill
Jack M. Gill, PhD is Professor in the Practice of Entrepreneurship (ret.) at Rice University and the Texas Medical Center. He previously served on the faculties of Harvard Medical School, MIT, and Stanford.
Dr. Gill is the founder and former Managing Member of Vanguard Ventures, a $500M venture capital firm that led investments in over 100 technology startups including Aldus, Macromedia, Ciena, and Network Appliance, returning more than $1B (7x) to investors.
Earlier, he founded Autolab, one of the first companies to apply microprocessors to laboratory instruments, later acquired by Spectra Physics, where he became Executive VP of Scientific Divisions.
A native of Lufkin, Texas, Dr. Gill earned degrees in chemistry and engineering from Lamar University and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Indiana University. He has received numerous honors, including the Horatio Alger Award and an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Indiana University.
He and his wife, Linda, established the Gill Foundation of Texas, contributing over $40 million to support STEM education and centers of excellence in science, medicine, and entrepreneurship.
